Eco-conscious choices making an impact!
An exceptionally green island…
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd, we’d like to share a few of the incredible projects going on in Roatan! In conjunction with the other bay Islands, Utila & Guanaja, we continue to work hard to preserve the natural beauty that you know and love. With various initiatives such as coral restoration, plastic bans, beach clean ups, etc. Roatan continues to be a leader in environmental responsibility.
Taking these eco-conscious steps today ensures that we can continue to enjoy the brilliant views from our patio at sunset, the adorable sea creatures we find on our morning dives and the fun activities we love or maybe have yet to try!

Local fisherman like Tex Dilbert make up the heart of Roatan. Tex is a boat captain who has specialized in fly fishing for over 10 years. In the flats of turtle grass and sand bottoms, he can find schools of bonefish and schools of permit tailing on the edge. If you like fishing and appreciate high quality service, we recommend booking a trip with Tex on your next visit to Roatan.
Trip of a Lifetime
“I recently returned from a week’s fishing with Tex. He had promised me a Permit but so had many other guides over the years. Tex delivered. He is a consummate professional who’s experience is only matched by his personable nature. He is a terrific guide who can spot fish under the most adverse conditions, a hard worker and a caring honest host to anyone he takes out. He has the only true flats boat on the island and can pole the boat as well as any seasoned guide anywhere in the world. I am happy to say I got my first Permit on a fly rod and it would never have been possible without Tex as my guide and now my friend.”

The Roatan Marine Park Coral Restoration Project launched in early 2019 with the installation of 20 coral trees with the support of the MAR Fund and the help of various local dive shops. Over time, the program has thrived, with over 1,000 coral fragments currently growing in the nursery and over 300 fragments out-planted on the reef.
The program’s mission is to restore the Staghorn and Elkhorn corals to their previous levels of biodiversity and coral cover on the reefs surrounding Roatan.
As of December 2020, the Roatan Marine Park has secured funding through Swiss Development Cooperation for the installation of 10 new coral trees that will be added to the Coral Nursery over the next few months.
