Absolutely fabulous place to stay.
Everything is new and super clean. Comfy beds; everything you need in the kitchen to make meals. We went with family and rented both houses. We had a car and it was easy to get to everyplace on the island. It was great to have the pool and the beautiful outdoor hangout space – especially at night with the perfect ambiance lighting! The beach is right there – quiet and not touristy – with amazing snorkeling right out the door. Easy walk on the beach to Blue Island Dive shop – or have them pick you up on the pier. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!! Five Stars!!

Educa Roatan was launched recently in Roatan, a program that aims to provide 5,500 laptops to local school students. The One Laptop per Child program has been implemented in the Caribbean region. However, Roatan becomes the first digital island of Honduras with the support of UNICEF. The educational transformation in Roatan has started.

Casa Altas
We loved Casa Atlas.
It has everything you need in this well-built home and a nice pool to gather around with family and friends. It’s in a very nice quiet neighborhood for relaxing and sleep and next to the guard station and walkway to the community dock, beach, and pool area. We enjoyed the large TV screen and watched movies every night as they have lots of them and the kitchen is very large for a group of 9. The kids loved the pool and it was so fun to come home and jump in the pool after visiting both ends of the island for beach time and snorkeling, horseback riding, and a visit to monkey and sloths hang out. We took turns with the double kayak and there are 3 on the premise. We had most of our meals at home as it is a half-hour drive to most places, so we had lunches out or packed food with us. We enjoyed snorkeling at West Bay and Half Moon Bay and snorkeling out to the reef on a dive boat is a must. The Roatan Brewing Company is fun for lunch and has lots of toys for the kids. We had a few maintenance issues but Jimmie at property management got right on it whenever we called. The only downside in Roatan is the no -see -um bugs that bite at dusk and dawn. Many of our family did not get bites so I think they must like a certain blood type. I tried many sprays but long sleeves and pants or long dresses work best at night. I would definitely stay at this house again with my family if I return to Roatan.

Fire Truck for Roatan
We Need Your Help

The Rotary Club of Roatan is the recipient of a Fire Truck through the Canadian Activists Passionate to Assist (CAPA), the Toronto Port Authority, and the Toronto Island Airport, which is specifically designed for airport service. The Club has decided to donate it to the Municipality of Roatan for use at the Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (RTB) on Roatan, as there is a dire need to have a backup truck for the existing aging and decrepit vehicles at the airport.
We need your help! We are making arrangements to transport the firetruck from Toronto to Miami and from Miami to Roatan. We are working together with the municipality to get all the appropriate paperwork done in order to receive this generous donation, and need to raise approximately $25,000 to get it here.
The Rotary Club of Roatan appreciates any support you can provide. Every dollar counts and will make a difference in Fire Protection at the airport and on the island!

We never wanted to leave
We stayed for 9 nights at this beautiful home, and we never wanted to leave. My kids (9 & 10) lived in the pool, which is huge and cleaned daily. The pool setting, surrounded by nature, is so peaceful, there were days when we really didn’t want to leave the house. The house itself was beautiful, clean, and had everything you could need. We were able to bake a cake, the kitchen had everything you could ever possibly want. The bedrooms were large and cool and the bathrooms were huge. The check-in process was simple and having the rental office close by was great for anything you need. Excellent service from the rental company.

The Roatan Rotary Club is involved in many ongoing projects in Roatan. They are currently working to add an exciting mico-finance project, learn more below.
The Rotary Club of Roatan is on the works to start a new Microfinance project with Adelante Foundation. On February 23, they met with Adelante’s president, treasurer, secretary and other board members, and with Jodi Fischer who has been their point of contact with Adelante. Adelante is a non profit organization with a 22 year history of success that believes in the power of opportunity. Their mission is to: empower enterprising women with the least opportunity to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Their Microfinance model was created to alleviate poverty in rural Honduran communities and we can’t wait to make the Roatan community part of it.
Thank you Past President Lisa Blythe for stepping up to lead this project that will impact the women in Roatan and their economy and thank you to all who were part of this meeting.

Coral Vista #1
Happy Guests
We had a wonderful stay at Coral Vista #1. It was very comfortable and spacious for our family of five. Our three kids really appreciated not having to share a room or bathroom. We had some issues with the water the first half of the trip, but Roatan Vacation Rentals did everything in their power to fix the problem. They have excellent maintenance workers who did everything they could until the problem was fixed. After that everything was great! It was very easy to contact Cathy and Liz with Roatan Vacation Rentals. They were always quick to respond. Coral Vista #1 is situated very close to many restaurants and dive shops but still was quiet and private. Our family used Sun Divers for all our Scuba excursions. They are just a short walk down the beach. If you are into diving, I would highly recommend them. We also used the concierge service, Detour Roatan, to schedule a chef, ziplining, and animal sanctuary tour. It was so nice not having to schedule them myself. If you are planning on doing any cooking, I would do a large grocery shopping trip closer to the airport. There are a few smaller markets in West End, but they do not have a big selection of perishable items. The kitchen is stocked with lots of pots, pans, etc. I had no problem cooking. Overall, our family had a great trip and is looking forward to returning! |

We stayed for 9 nights at this beautiful home, and we never wanted to leave. My kids (9 & 10) lived in the pool, which is huge and cleaned daily.
The pool setting, surrounded by nature, is so peaceful, there were days when we really didn’t want to leave the house. The house itself was beautiful, clean, and had everything you could need. We were able to bake a cake, the kitchen had everything you could ever possibly want. The bedrooms were large and cool and the bathrooms were huge.
The check-in process was simple and having the rental office close by was great for anything you need. Excellent service from the rental company. Security was also great, always felt safe and the kayaks at the beach were lovely. We did have a car, and got everywhere on the island easily. We also used to Hugo app for delivery. |

Since its inception in 2013, the Caribbean Cup Freediving Competition in Roatan, has become one of the most important freediving competitions in the world.
World and National Champions from countries in the 5 continents, high-level safety teams and distinguished international judges participate in this exciting competition, held at one of the most appropriate venues on the planet: Roatan.
Free Immersion (FIM), Constant Weight with Mono Fins (CWT), Constant Weight with Bi Fins (CWBF) and Constant Weight Without Fins (CNF) are the four disciplines in which athletes try to reach greater depths while holding their breath.
Caribbean Cup 2022 is the inaugural event of the 2022 Freediving World Series and will be held from May 17th to 24th 2022.

Tercer Cine, the first alternative space dedicated to independent Latin American cinema in Honduras was born in Tegucigalpa in September 2021, and after 26 events they have consolidated a way of showing fiction and documentaries to a diverse and growing audience.
From the outset, their intention was to guarantee the right of access to art and cultural events to urban and rural populations, from all social strata.
After consolidating a production team in Roatán, they have been working on the arrival of Tercer Cine to the island, with a modality of three consecutive days of film showings once a month.
The events include free screenings in the different communities of the island, thinking of a specific film for the interests of each community.
The first events were held during the first week of May, and included two short films and one feature film. Keep an eye out for these exciting upcoming monthly events.

EJ has lived on Roatan since June of 2005. He has his own graphic design business, PhunkiMonkey Designs, which he started back in 2001 when he hopped on a plane to Costa Rica with a backpack, 5 words of Spanish, and a laptop!
During the rainy season of 2014, he decided to create a digital topographical map of Roatan with the intention of selling custom colored prints for wall decoration. Fast forward to about a year ago, after 3 months of long distance phone tag, Roatan Cartography Co. is ready for production!
Any size and customization is possible although he specializes in two basic products:
1) The island by itself
2) As part of a backboard or magnetic board for a map or dive sites
“Living in Central America for the past 20+ years I’ve learned to be self sufficient and in a few occasions create new things that didn’t exist. Pretty crazy how 17 years ago I got here doing simple street maps of the towns of Guatemala and Bay Islands and now have developed that into this 3D model super fantastic project.”
