As we quickly head towards the end of the year and approach high season, we are happy to say that Roatan is doing very well and we hope you visit us to enjoy it yourself. That said our vacation rentals are starting to fill up quickly and its best when traveling in high season to book as far in advance as possible to secure the very best vacation rental options.

Beachfront Luxury with Private Rooftop Pool in Private Community
The pictures do not do this place justice at all. It is one spectacular property with a great view and excellent presentation. Everything was clean and in perfect condition. And I would say that the condo is far, far more impressive in person. The staff was courteous and accommodating, and the guards around the property gave us a feeling of safety and security. We came during low season, so we had the entire wing of our property section to ourselves. The upstairs pool is also dedicated to anyone who rents this unit, so my kids enjoyed that access. I would return to this property without hesitation. It was a fantastic rental.

History of Breadfruit
Did you know breadfruit trees are found throughout Roatan and you can sample this amazing fruit when visiting the island, be sure to give it a try, you will not be disappointed. But how did breadfruit trees get to the Caribbean?
Sir Joseph Banks, who sailed on HMS Endeavour with Captain Cook to Tahiti in 1769, recognized the potential of breadfruit as a food crop for other tropical areas. He proposed to King George III that a special expedition be commissioned to transport breadfruit plants from Tahiti to the Caribbean. This set the stage for one of the grandest sailing adventures of all time. The ill-fated voyage of HMS Bounty 1787-89, under the command of Captain William Bligh, is an extraordinary tale of mutiny, deceit, courage, and sailing skill. Unfortunately, the hundreds of breadfruit plants collected in Tahiti were all tossed overboard by mutineers.
What is little known, is that Captain Bligh returned to Tahiti on the aptly named HMS Providence to continue the breadfruit voyage. Several Tahitian varieties, and an unknown variety from Timor, were successfully introduced to the Caribbean in 1793, first to the botanic garden on St. Vincent and then to botanic gardens at Bath and Spring Garden and other locations in Jamaica and with time onto Roatan and the Bay Islands .
