As always, any activities that you book through Roatan Life Concierge can be charged directly to your rental unit. We just send you with a voucher to your excursion and you pay later, after the service is provided! This is especially convenient so that you do not have to carry around large amounts of cash or use your credit card at multiple locations. It is our policy to never mark-up the excursion cost; you will always pay the same price as if you walked up and booked on your own. At the end of your stay, you just let us know how you would like to settle up – cash, credit card or a mix of both.

Roatan United
Each month, we highlight an organization based in Roatan whose work is vital to the community. As a company and as individuals, we support every organization mentioned in our newsletters, and we hope that our guests will see the value in their great work, too.
This month in Roatan United we are featuring the Rotary Club. Rotary Club is an internationally recognized organization whose motto is “Service Above Self,” and the Rotary Club of Roatan certainly follows through on that concept.
The Rotary Club of Roatan is currently focusing on the following projects around the community:
Water filtration and purification: Efforts to provide the island’s poorer communities with the proper systems to filter and purify their water to prevent disease.
Literacy and education: Rotary Club of Roatan offers scholarships for students to continue their education beyond the required 6th grade level in Honduras. The Club provides uniforms, school supplies, and assists in augmenting family income so the child can remain in school through high school.
Banos Para Ninos: Rotary Club of Roatan is trying to repair, restore, and build working bathrooms in all of Roatan’s schools. Rotary Club has a 5-year plan in place to complete this extensive project, which is approximately a $250,000 need. A survey found that of the more than 50 schools on the island, more than 90% did not have sufficient nor working bathrooms for their students. This project benefits from many of the fundraising events Rotary Club of Roatan coordinates throughout the year.
Academic scholarships: Rotary Club of Roatan also supports local students seeking to continue their education through University. Academic and civic requirements must be met in an effort to facilitate the education for the future leaders of Roatan.
Rotary Club of Roatan continues its efforts year-round, and their needs are ever growing as the island’s population continues to increase. Expats in Paradise
This month in Expats in Paradise, we’re highlighting vacation home owners who adore Roatan and want to share it with as many tourists as possible! We’re checking in with Nancy and Jerry Ammirato from Northern California.
“We bought this great home in January 2012,” Nancy says. “It sits above the Gibson Bight Marina at the end of Sandy Bay. We currently live in California where we still have a manufacturing company, but we try to get down to Roatan as often as possible, usually two to four times a year.”
Nancy and Jerry are avid divers, making Roatan a perfect vacation destination for them. “We started coming to Roatan in 1993 to dive,” Nancy explains. “Staying at Anthony’s Key Resort was absolutely perfect for us, as we could bring our grandkids and let them attend Dolphin Camp and later become divers, all while we dove. We absolutely loved Roatan and have continued to come down every year since then.”
Nancy and Jerry are no strangers to purchasing property in Roatan. It’s quite easy for foreigners to legally buy and own property here – but knowing the ins-and-outs of a foreign legal and real estate system is best left to the real estate experts.
“We were acquainted with Phil Weir who started Roatan Life Real Estate both as a dive instructor at AKR and as a Real Estate Broker,” says Nancy. “We bought and sold previous properties on the island through him. We’ve continued our business relationship with RLRE, and added Roatan Life Vacation Rentals when we bought this house.”

Nancy and Jerry have even better future plans for their time in Roatan: “When we retire here, it will still be close enough to the U.S. to hop back up to visit family or vice versa,” Nancy says. We look forward to welcoming them full-time into our beautiful community when they do retire. And we hope to welcome you to Roatan soon, too!
