It’s that time of year when the cold starts to sneak in and the threat of snow is already real for many. We think it’s the best time of year to run away to an island! We have several real estate listings to highlight, just in case you’re seriously considering a more permanent escape.

We also want to highlight an excellent program by the Roatan Marine Park that some of our vacation rental owners are supporting.

Finally, if you are considering a move to paradise, we encourage you to learn some basic Spanish phrases for your own convenience. Find out how little monsters can help you reach that goal…

The winter blues are so much brighter in Roatan!

Learn Spanish with Monsters

You don’t need to be fluent in Spanish to live in or visit Roatan, but knowing some basics can certainly help! That’s why local Spanish teacher Kelly McLarnan has released her beginner Spanish guide, Spanish with Monsters: “The First Date.”

The book is the product of four years’ writing and over 15 years of teaching Spanish. Its quirky style is meant to reflect our expat island experiences and teach the Spanish you need first.

The digital text scrolls like a traditional book but has plenty of app-style, self-checking practices, games, and quizzes built into its digital pages.

As a bonus, proceeds from the project support educational opportunities for youth on Roatan!

Support the RMP Coral Restoration Program

The Roatan Marine Park Coral Restoration project has been growing coral fragments and trees near the Seaquest Deep dive site. Donations go toward planting new coral fragments, monitoring and protecting coral trees, as well as full sponsorship of new trees.

Protecting our beautiful natural environment is a top priority for all of us who love Roatan. When our vacation rental owners seek out more ways to support the community, we can’t help but feel extra proud!

The owners of Casa Tortuga Buceadora (Bayside Villa 2B) take the name of their home seriously: House of the Scuba Diving Turtle. They are supporting the RMP Coral Restoration efforts, which means that staying in their home has a direct impact on coral growth and protection!
